Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos initially announced a delay in the homecoming of their newly adopted dog, Javi, due to health concerns. The Shih Tzu, originally named Lucas, required treatment for a parasite following its introduction through the rescue organization Pet ResQ Inc.

Shortly after, the couple confirmed that Javi has officially joined their home. The adoption was celebrated via social media and by the nonprofit Pet ReqQ Inc., with the caption “Welcome Home, Javi.” The puppy joins the couple’s existing dog, Lena.
