The Kenyan Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has conducted several operations targeting human trafficking and child exploitation.

In July 2026, the DCI rescued a newborn baby in Nairobi after the mother was lured by a man promising employment. Four suspects were arrested in connection with the incident. Following this, DCI Director Mohamed Amin signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the child-protection group Marici Kenya to strengthen investigations, support survivors, and increase public awareness.

By August 2026, the DCI’s Operations Support Unit conducted a sting operation in Ruiru, Kiambu County, rescuing three Indian nationals who had gone missing after arriving at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Six suspects, including individuals from Kenya, Pakistan, and India, were arrested. While suspects claimed they were assisting the victims in traveling to Italy via Ethiopia, investigators are treating the case as suspected human trafficking and are looking for links to larger networks.
