On October 11, Hyderabad police arrested Vikram Kumar, a former security guard, for the kidnapping and murder of five-year-old Moses Aureli. The victim, the child of a research scientist, was abducted from the Villa Orchids community clubhouse while attending Bathukamma celebrations.

Investigators determined the crime was premeditated. CCTV footage showed Kumar following the child from the clubhouse. After the abduction, the suspect contacted the family to demand a ransom of Rs 20 lakh. The girl’s body was later recovered from a water sump in the clubhouse cellar; police believe she was tied and weighed down with bricks before being drowned.

Kumar, a resident of Nalanda, Bihar, had been dismissed from his position at the complex due to misconduct just days prior to the incident. Following his arrest, he reportedly confessed to the crime during interrogation.
