The $5 million King Charles III Stakes at Randwick concluded with a victory for the Chris Waller-trained mare Autumn Glow. Ridden by James McDonald, the five-year-old mare won by two and a quarter lengths, holding off a challenge from Ceolwulf.

This victory brings Autumn Glow’s career record to 14 wins from 15 starts, with total earnings exceeding $12.8 million. The mare, a previous season’s Australian horse champion, is expected to compete in the Champions Mile at Flemington in two weeks. Trainer Chris Waller noted that her preparation was adjusted following the scratching of Pride Of Jenni, who was sidelined due to a leg infection.

The event was part of a major racing lineup at Royal Randwick. In The Everest, Ka Ying Rising entered as the $1.50 favourite and the world’s highest-rated horse, seeking a 22-race winning streak despite concerns over a wide barrier and wet track conditions. Other notable contenders in the racing program included Jimmysstar and Rose Aye, the latter of whom secured a late entry into the $2 million Kosciuszko race to replace the injured Melody Again.
