In early August 2026, the Port of Klaipėda reported strong first-half performance, with container traffic up 12% to 7.2 million tonnes and overall cargo volumes rising across most segments despite regional war, sanctions, and tariffs. Growth was driven by a new deep-sea service to Asia, expanded short-sea routes, and continued infrastructure investment, while LNG throughput jumped 37% and fertilizer and vegetable-oil volumes recovered sharply.

To support sustainability, the port launched the world’s first hydrogen- and electric-powered waste-collection vessel, Rasa. In its first three months of operation, Rasa collected approximately 434 m³ of liquid waste, 871 m³ of sewage, and 151 m³ of other waste. Furthering its green energy transition, the port is developing the H2Deri@BSP project, a concept for a green methanol bunkering vessel with an 800-tonne capacity that could supply up to 250,000 tonnes of green methanol annually.

Infrastructure expansion also includes a $43 million, 200-metre floating dry dock built in Turkey, slated for delivery in autumn 2027. This dock will allow the port to service Panamax-class ships, strengthening the BLRT Grupp ship-repair network. Additionally, the port has commenced design work for a new marina near the under-construction Cruise Terminal, which is expected to provide approximately 85 berths for yachts and leisure boats.
