Škoda Group is expanding its electric train production and deployment across Central and Eastern Europe.

In Czechia, the company has begun manufacturing 22 new electric multiple units for Arriva at its Ostrava plant. Following a contract signed in July 2025, these dual-voltage trains are designed to reach speeds of 200 km/h and utilize advanced Automatic Train Operation technology to reduce energy consumption. The units are scheduled to enter service in December 2028.

Concurrently, Bulgaria is demonstrating new Škoda electric train sets on the Plovdiv–Septemvri railway line. These zero-emission units were acquired through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, co-financed by the European Union’s ‘Transport Connectivity’ Program 2021–2027. The demonstration highlighted the integration of modern rolling stock with the European Train Control System to improve passenger services.
