The Kogi State Government launched a N646.8 million bursary program to support over 20,000 students of Kogi origin enrolled in tertiary institutions. The initiative, flagged off by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, was designed to ease the financial burden of education on households.

As the program progressed, officials confirmed the disbursement would cover students both within the state and in institutions outside the state. Under the arrangement, medical students receive N75,000, while those in other courses receive N30,000.

In conjunction with these financial measures, the state has also focused on medical education infrastructure. This includes the inspection of new facilities at the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH) Teaching Hospital in Okene, featuring upgraded medical student hostels and doctors’ quarters equipped with solar power and internet connectivity.
