Former U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem has filed for divorce from her husband of 34 years, Bryon Noem, in Hamlin County, South Dakota, citing ‘irreconcilable differences’. The couple married in 1992 and has three adult children and four grandchildren. The filing follows reports concerning Bryon Noem’s involvement in online ‘bimbofication’ subcultures and rumors regarding his personal life, including allegations of cross-dressing. Legal representatives for Bryon Noem stated he is ‘saddened that the marriage is ending’ and expressed a desire for a ‘private and amicable resolution’ to protect the family. Additional reports have linked the divorce to personal controversies involving both parties. Kristi Noem previously faced allegations of an extramarital affair with her adviser, Corey Lewandowski, which were cited as factors in her dismissal from the Department of Homeland Security in March 2026. During a House Judiciary Committee hearing, Noem was questioned by Representative Sydney Kamlager-Dove regarding the affair but did not provide a direct response. Some commentators have characterized the personal dynamics between the couple as an ‘open secret’. Kristi Noem currently serves as a special envoy for a diplomatic initiative focused on security cooperation in the Americas. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-04: Kristi Noem files for divorce amid personal controversies Former DHS Secretary Kristi Noem has filed for divorce following allegations of an affair with an adviser and controversies surrounding her husband, Bryon Noem. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/kristi-noem-files-for-divorce-amid-personal-controversies ### 2026-10-01: Kristi Noem files for divorce from husband of 34 years Former U.S. DHS Secretary Kristi Noem has filed for divorce from her husband of 34 years, citing irreconcilable differences in South Dakota. 5 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/kristi-noem-files-for-divorce-from-husband-of-34-years ### 2026-09-29: Kristi Noem files for divorce after 34 years of marriage Former Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has filed for divorce from her husband of 34 years, citing irreconcilable differences following a scandal involving his private online activities. 32 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/kristi-noem-files-for-divorce-from-husband-bryon-noem --- Cite as: Kristi Noem divorce filing.
