German automotive cable manufacturer Kromberg & Schubert has initiated significant industrial expansions in North Africa and the Balkans.

In Tunisia, the company inaugurated ‘Béja 2’, its second industrial site in the Béja industrial zone. The project involves substantial capital expenditure, with equipment investments projected to reach 300 million dinars by 2028. The company expects to scale its workforce at the new site from 2,500 employees in 2026 to nearly 7,500 by 2029, contributing to a total regional workforce of approximately 14,700 across both its Tunisian plants.

Concurrently, the company is expanding its footprint in North Macedonia. A new investment project in the Zabeni industrial zone in Bitola is expected to create 2,000 new jobs over the next four years. This facility will focus on manufacturing automotive components for Audi, specifically producing systems for a new vehicle model with a planned daily volume exceeding 3,000 harnesses. The project will utilize modern technologies, including digitalization and artificial intelligence.

Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski stated the investment provides a ‘significant boost for the Pelagonia region and the national economy,’ noting that the country possesses the industrial capacity to meet high European standards. Following this expansion, Kromberg & Schubert expects its Macedonian production capacities to exceed 400 million euros in annual exports next year, with a total national workforce projected to reach nearly 10,000 employees across its Bitola and Skopje operations.
