Developments: 2. L3Harris Technologies has secured several major defense contracts to support U.S. naval and missile defense capabilities. In late September 2026, the company was awarded a $139 million contract by the U.S. Naval Sea Systems Command to provide Low-Profile Masts (LPM) for Virginia- and Columbia-class submarines. These systems are intended to replace traditional periscopes with telescoping arms featuring high-definition visible and infrared imaging to enhance stealth and situational awareness. Shortly thereafter, L3Harris secured a $6 billion contract from Lockheed Martin to expand propulsion production for the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system. This seven-year agreement involves constructing a new manufacturing facility for THAAD Solid Rocket Boost Motors. Additionally, the company entered a multi-year agreement with the Naval and Air Warfare Center to increase production of critical components for the BMG-109 Tomahawk cruise missile, supporting a goal to eventually reach annual production of over 1,000 units. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-27: L3Harris secures $6 billion THAAD propulsion contract and expands missile component production L3Harris Technologies has secured a $6 billion contract to expand THAAD propulsion production and entered a new agreement to increase critical component manufacturing for Tomahawk cruise missiles. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/l3harris-secures-6-billion-thaad-propulsion-contract-and-expands-missile-component-production ### 2026-09-21: L3Harris awarded $139 million US Navy submarine contract L3Harris Technologies received a $139 million U.S. Navy contract to provide advanced Low-Profile Masts for Virginia- and Columbia-class submarines to enhance stealth and visibility. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/l3harris-awarded-139-million-us-navy-submarine-contract --- Cite as: L3Harris defense contract expansions.
