Fundació la Caixa has announced the allocation of €32.4 million to support 80 scientific research and innovation projects across Spain and Portugal.

The funding is distributed through two primary channels. The Health Research Call selected 32 projects from 800 proposals, focusing on basic research in areas such as oncology, neurosciences, cardiovascular diseases, and infectious diseases. These projects, which can receive up to €1 million each, aim to investigate biological and genetic mechanisms, including the use of intelligent systems for Parkinson’s treatment and focused ultrasound for spinal cord repair.

The CaixaImpulse Health Innovation Call, conducted in alliance with Criteria Bio Ventures, selected 30 initiatives from 449 candidates. These projects are designed to drive technological advancement and personalized rehabilitation through the development of new therapies, diagnostic tests, and medical devices.
