Attorney-General Lawal Pedro reported that domestic violence was the most frequent category, with 13,515 cases, while women accounted for 88 per cent of all reports. Officials noted that while reported cases appeared to decline between 2024 and 2025, this might reflect changes in reporting awareness rather than a true decrease in violence. In response to these challenges, the state has expanded its resources to combat sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV). This includes the launch of the Idera Sexual Assault Referral Center (SARC) at Alimosho General Hospital to address high crime rates in that area. Additionally, the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has partnered with the police to upgrade five divisions into specialized Family Support Units (FSUs) in Isheri, Idimu, Meiran, Ijesha, and Iju.
