Historical archives and news retrospectives from the Lake Cowichan area highlight various community milestones and local governance topics from previous decades.

Past records detail the town’s sister-city relationship with Ohtaki, Japan, including a 29th delegation visit and a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. Infrastructure developments are also noted, specifically the receipt of over $1 million in federal and provincial funding for water main upgrades.

Other historical reports include local advocacy for in-vessel composting by Councillor Bob Day, who suggested processing organic waste locally rather than exporting it. Additionally, the Lake Cowichan Animal Rescue Society (LCARS) marked its tenth anniversary with a celebratory event to recognize its volunteers.
