Although interview results and evaluations were published on the inPA portal in May 2026, no final administrative measures have been recorded, prompting requests for information regarding the status of the procedure and future hiring plans to address personnel shortages. Following these inquiries, local police workers held an assembly to address what they described as a chronic shortage of personnel. Workers reported that the force has fewer than 30 units, which fails to meet the 1/700 inhabitant ratio required by Calabria regional law. Participants noted that the workforce is aging and exhausted, highlighting that while responsibilities expanded under the 2017 Minniti Decree, no significant recruitment has occurred since 2000. The assembly expressed intentions to seek dialogue with municipal governance and threatened a state of agitation if decisive action is not taken. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-11: Lamezia Terme local police warn of critical staff shortages Local police in Lamezia Terme are protesting severe staff shortages, noting they have fewer than 30 officers and have not had a major recruitment since 2000, threatening industrial action. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/lamezia-terme-local-police-warn-of-critical-staff-shortages ### 2026-09-29: Local councils in Lamezia Terme and Chieti address municipal motions Municipal councils in Lamezia Terme and Chieti address local issues: Lamezia Terme faces questions over police recruitment delays, while Chieti rejects a proposal to review funeral home regulations. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/local-councils-in-lamezia-terme-and-chieti-address-municipal-motions --- Cite as: Lamezia Terme local police staffing shortages.
