Following heavy rainfall between late August and mid-September 2026, severe land subsidence and soil cracking occurred in Đắk Snao Village, Quảng Sơn Commune, within Vietnam’s Lâm Đồng Province. The geological instability affected approximately 4 hectares of land, with cracks reaching up to 300m in length. This phenomenon impacted 79 households, totaling 454 people, who were forced to relocate to temporary shelters.

Lâm Đồng authorities responded by providing relief packages and inspecting affected coffee and pepper plantations. Lưu Văn Trung, Chairman of the Lâm Đồng Provincial People's Council, led a delegation to inspect the sites and distribute 79 relief packages, each containing 5 million VND in cash from the Vietnam Fatherland Front Relief Fund, alongside rice and essential supplies. Local officials are currently evaluating sites for long-term resettlement.

In addition to the subsidence in Đắk Snao, landslide risks have triggered emergency relocations in the K’No 5 residential area within Dam Rong 4 commune. Due to threats from a large hill located behind the residential area, authorities have relocated 22 households, totaling 125 residents, across two phases. The commune has requested approximately 1.3 billion VND to support these displaced families during a projected 120-day relocation period. Authorities have installed warning signs and barriers to prevent residents from returning to these danger zones.
