Political and legal disputes have emerged in Langley involving municipal election conduct and the eligibility of local officials.

In early August, the group Langley Strong filed formal complaints with the Township of Langley and Elections BC against the mayor-led Progress for Langley slate. The allegations include the unauthorized use of municipal crests, logos, and project renderings on campaign materials, as well as filming in restricted areas like council chambers. Langley Strong is seeking equal enforcement of election bylaws ahead of the October 17 municipal election.

By late August, legal challenges shifted toward the eligibility of sitting officials. A petition filed by ten local voters in the B.C. Supreme Court seeks to disqualify Mayor Eric Woodward and Councillors Tim Baillie and Rob Rindt. The petitioners allege violations of the B.C. Community Charter regarding the improper use of Township funds to pay for the councillors' personal legal bills in a separate defamation lawsuit. The officials and the Township have responded that no rules were broken and that the petition is inadmissible.
