Lao Cai province is organizing various local events to promote regional culture and athletics. In late October, authorities began finalizing preparations for the province’s first sports festival of 2026, which includes six disciplines such as volleyball, athletics, and table tennis. Organizers have focused on upgrading venues to meet professional standards and assigning dedicated locations to manage competition schedules.

In early November, the Phuc Khanh commune hosted the 2026 Green Rice Festival, known as “Tet Khau Mau” by the Tay people. Held at the Gia Ha village communal house, the festival featured traditional rituals to express gratitude for harvests and a competition to showcase the craft of making green rice. The event aims to preserve local agricultural traditions and boost tourism following recent administrative restructuring.
