Brazilian actress Larissa Manoela has exited a biopic about Carmen Miranda directed by Bruno Barreto. Her team initially stated the departure was due to a change in the filming schedule, noting that the director moved filming dates forward after learning of another Carmen Miranda project in production.

Manoela’s team explained that the new dates conflicted with her existing professional commitments. While it was suggested she alter her current contracts to accommodate the film, she declined to do so to maintain her “professional integrity and respect for her current obligations.”

In later statements made at the Rock in Rio festival, Manoela expressed disappointment, clarifying that the decision to exit was not her own but a result of the production’s direction. She noted that she had previously declined other significant work opportunities to prioritize the role.
