The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has opened the Managua Nicaragua Temple for public tours. The 24,500-square-foot structure, featuring regional design elements such as motifs of the sacuanjoche, is the first temple built for the Church within the country.

A public open house is scheduled from September 10 through September 26. The temple is set to be dedicated on October 18 by Elder Ronald A. Rasband of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

Nicaraguan government officials have recognized the Church for its social and community contributions to health and education sectors. During a visit to the facility, Co-Chancellor Valdrack Jaentschke stated the temple demonstrates that Nicaragua is an “open and receptive nation where faith can be expressed with freedom and without restrictions.”
