Lautaro Martínez has emerged as a central figure for Inter Milan, both financially and on the pitch. Following the departure of Dusan Vlahovic from Juventus, Martínez became the highest-paid player in Serie A for the 2026/27 season, with a gross annual salary of 16.67 million euros.

Financial data for the 2026/27 season confirms Martínez holds the top individual salary in the league. His compensation contributes to Inter Milan’s total gross wage bill of approximately 142.42 million euros, which places the club second in Serie A. Juventus leads the league with a total wage expenditure of approximately 149.42 million euros gross (87.55 million euros net). Other high earners in the league include Nicolò Barella and Hakan Calhanoglu at Inter, as well as Kenan Yildiz at Juventus.

Beyond his financial standing, Martínez has addressed previous scrutiny regarding his performance in high-stakes matches. He has recorded five goals and one assist in four significant fixtures, including a brace against Napoli and two goals in a 2-2 draw against Roma. As Inter Milan captain, he is recognized for his leadership and is reportedly acting as a motivating force in the locker room. He is currently on a trajectory to surpass historical scoring milestones for the club, such as Spillo Altobelli’s career totals.

On the international level, Martínez is expected to represent Argentina in upcoming matches against Bolivia, Burkina Faso, and Benin, where he seeks to surpass Kun Agüero on the all-time scoring list. Following these duties, he is expected to rejoin Inter Milan for domestic and Champions League fixtures.
