Law enforcement agencies in the United Kingdom and the United States have conducted operations targeting organized criminal networks involved in the theft and resale of mobile phones and high-value electronics. In London, the Metropolitan Police executed a month-long crackdown in September that resulted in over 700 arrests and the recovery of hundreds of stolen devices. This operation included the execution of more than 50 warrants and inspections of 220 second-hand phone shops. Officers also seized drugs, weapons, cash, and illegal e-bikes. This follows the recent sentencing of three men for trafficking up to 40,000 stolen phones to China. In a subsequent two-week operation codenamed Zoridon, London police targeted rogue shops and car boot sales, leading to 42 arrests and the seizure of approximately £100,000 in suspected stolen goods. Authorities noted that shoplifters are increasingly using ‘shopping lists’ provided by criminal networks to fuel the resale market. In the United States, police in Greenwich, Connecticut, arrested a man for using fraudulent funds and multiple iCloud accounts to purchase high-value electronics. Investigators recovered several iPhones and new iPhone 18 Pros during the investigation. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-21: Police operations target organized retail theft and fraudulent electronics sales Police in Connecticut and London have conducted major operations against organized retail theft, resulting in multiple arrests and the seizure of high-value electronics and fraudulent funds. 7 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/police-operations-target-organized-retail-theft-and-fraudulent-electronics-sales ### 2026-10-08: Metropolitan Police arrest 700 in London phone theft crackdown The Metropolitan Police arrested over 700 people during a major crackdown on London's organized phone theft and smuggling networks, recovering hundreds of devices and seizing weapons and drugs. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/metropolitan-police-arrest-700-in-london-phone-theft-crackdown --- Cite as: Law enforcement crackdowns on organized electronics theft.
