Developments: 2. Lazio continues to undergo squad adjustments involving player departures, contract negotiations, and tactical shifts. Defender Luca Pellegrini is expected to leave the club after being excluded from the Serie A squad list and being deemed “surplus to requirements.” While the club has sought a transfer to the Turkish market, Pellegrini’s salary of approximately 2 million euros has presented a challenge. Simultaneously, the club is managing several contract renewal situations for players including Danilo Cataldi, Lazzari, and Cancellieri. Cataldi has expressed a desire to stay long-term, though his renewal may depend on his performance following an injury layoff. The club is also navigating potential departures such as Patric. On the pitch, head coach Gennaro Gattuso has seen significant individual developments. Nuno Tavares has emerged as a vital tactical asset, transforming from a potential departure into a central figure in the squad. Similarly, defender Oliver Provstgaard has established himself as a mainstay in the defense, providing leadership and physical dominance. Diogo Leite has also impressed following a 2-0 friendly victory over Arezzo, a match that featured goals from Andrea Pinamonti and Leite. In the attacking department, Tijjani Noslin is emerging as a primary scoring option, creating competition for the starting role alongside Pinamonti. While the team remains unbeaten through five matches, Gattuso continues to manage squad rotations and player fitness. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-26: Lazio and Reggina lead updates in Italian football news Italian football updates include Lazio's tactical shifts under Gattuso, Reggina's victory in Serie D, and various results across regional and lower-tier leagues. 16 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/lazio-manages-contract-renewals-and-tactical-shifts ### 2026-09-20: Lazio defender Luca Pellegrini faces exit as Nuno Tavares improves Luca Pellegrini faces an exit from Lazio due to squad exclusion and high wages, while Nuno Tavares sees a resurgence in form with improved offensive statistics. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/lazio-defender-luca-pellegrini-faces-exit-as-nuno-tavares-improves --- Cite as: Lazio squad and contract developments.
