The League of Legends Worlds 2026 Play-In stage has seen significant developments involving major regional competitors. Early in the stage, the North American organization Cloud9 was eliminated from the tournament after a 3-1 loss to the Brazilian team FURIA. This loss marked a historic low for the organization, as they had not previously been eliminated during a preliminary phase of the World Championship.

Following Cloud9’s exit, MVK Esports from Vietnam continued a strong performance. After previously defeating FURIA 3-0—a match in which player Chika set a new record for damage per minute—MVK Esports secured their place in the Play-In grand final by defeating FURIA again with a 3-1 score at the Riot Games Arena in Los Angeles. This victory sets up a rematch against Karmine Corp to determine the final spot in the Swiss Stage.
