During the October 2026 international break, Lecce coach Eusebio Di Francesco focused on improving attacking depth and unpredictability. Former defender William Viali noted that while the team secured six points in five matches, the coaching staff aimed to improve mental continuity and reduce errors to meet performance expectations.

As the team prepared for a home match against Juventus, Di Francesco emphasized the need for “healthy recklessness” and high attention levels. The squad faced challenges due to an injury to Pierotti, who was expected to be sidelined for approximately six weeks, creating competition for starting positions in the attacking lineup between Esteban, Geubbels, and Stulic. To counter Juventus's threats, specifically the attacking capabilities of Woltemade and Kolo Muani, the coaching staff focused on defending specific spaces while planning to maintain the midfield trio of Kaba, Ngom, and Maleh.

Following the Juventus period, the team suffered a 5-1 defeat against Frosinone. Di Francesco criticized the squad for losing mental focus and failing to maintain intensity, specifically noting an inability to win duels and a tendency to give up too early. He expressed dissatisfaction with the fifth goal conceded, suggesting the team had mentally checked out. The coach also disputed a penalty awarded for Frosinone's second goal, citing a lack of officiating consistency. Di Francesco attributed tactical difficulties to numerous injuries and limited training time for several players, while stressing that available players must perform to help the club avoid relegation.
