Legal challenges have emerged regarding the expulsion of Algerian nationals from France.

In August 2026, Rania Ameur, a fourth-year medical student at the University of Lille, was issued an Obligation to Leave French Territory (OQTF). Despite her high ranking in medical selection and a scholarship commitment to practice in the Dunkerque region to address medical shortages, the administrative decision threatens her ability to begin a salaried medical externship.

Separately, a public rapporteur at the Paris Administrative Court recommended the annulment of expulsion orders against Boualem Naman, an Algerian national and TikTok influencer. The magistrate argued the order was ‘tainted by irregularities’ and requested the restitution of his residency permit. While Naman was convicted of ‘incitement to violence’ during a live stream, the rapporteur noted his remarks did not constitute a ‘terrorist enterprise’ and characterized them as isolated incidents.
