Recent legal developments in the Thessaloniki region involve separate criminal cases. In the Toumpa area, a 58-year-old woman was sentenced to 15 months in prison by the Summary Misdemeanor Court for multiple arson attacks against a neighbor’s apartment door. The court noted the defendant acted with diminished responsibility, and her defense attributed the behavior to psychiatric issues.

In the Thermi area, a 54-year-old woman was arrested following reports of animal neglect. Police inspections of her residence uncovered approximately 200 animals, including 120 dogs, 70 cats, and 10 goats, living in unsuitable and unhygienic conditions. The arrest followed an incident involving a threat against an Algerian national. While the woman was released by order of the prosecutor, a preliminary investigation into the living conditions of the animals is ongoing.
