A Delhi court has requested a police status report following a complaint against Chief Minister Rekha Gupta regarding alleged disparaging remarks made toward government officials.

The complaint, filed by Ram Niwas Sharma, stems from an event at the Kashmere Gate ISBT in September 2025 during a Delhi Transport Corporation bus service launch. It is alleged that Gupta compared officials to Lord Hanuman, stating, “These Hanumans remember their temporary powers only when their tail catches fire; before that they forget it.”

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Ashwani Panwar of the Rouse Avenue Courts has directed the Kashmere Gate police station to respond to the matter, which was filed under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023. A hearing is scheduled for October 15.
