The 31st Leipzig Opera Ball took place on October 24, 2026, at the Oper Leipzig. Centered on the theme ‘Kalispéra Thessaloniki!’, the event honored the 42-year partnership between the German city of Leipzig and its Greek sister city, Thessaloniki.

The gala hosted between 2,000 and 3,000 guests, including political figures from Saxony and celebrities such as actress Simone Thomalla and singer Jenny Elvers. The evening featured Mediterranean-inspired decor and performances by the Leipzig Ballet, opera soloists, and musical acts including Clueso and Leslie Clio.

Beyond cultural celebration, the event facilitated diplomatic engagement; Thessaloniki Mayor Stelios Angeloudis met with Leipzig Mayor Burkhard Jung to discuss cooperation regarding tourism, culture, and innovation. As part of the event’s charitable efforts, a luxury raffle supported the ‘Leipzig hilft Kindern’ foundation, featuring a Porsche Macan valued at 113,000 euros as the grand prize.
