In August 2026, a new permanent exhibition opened in the monument’s foundation area following approximately one year of renovation. This project, part of a long-term €32 million restoration program, includes the installation of a metal staircase to improve safety and visitor independence. The exhibition utilizes large picture panels and original artifacts to examine the monument’s history and its various political uses from the Kaiser era through the Nazi period and the GDR. Curator Crawford Matthews noted the display seeks to provide a “critical view of how the monument was repeatedly instrumentalised.”

Following this, in September 2026, the monument hosted a large-scale art installation titled ‘Mixed Feelings in Times of War’. Organized by the artist collective krudebude to coincide with World Peace Day, the installation featured a massive white banner on the facade with the text: ‘STILLGESTANDEN? Rührt Euch!’ (Standing still? Move!). Co-curator Nora Überhost described the site as a “highly political place” and stated the project aimed to offer a human perspective on global conflict through individual feelings rather than rhetoric.
