LG Display has reached a milestone in its White Organic Light Emitting Diode (WOLED) business, with cumulative sales of large-scale panels exceeding 50 million units. This follows a period of accelerated growth, rising from 10 million units in 2020 to the current 50 million mark. The company is currently diversifying its application of the technology beyond televisions into the gaming, office, and professional monitor sectors.

To support this growth, LG Display is investing approximately 1 billion yuan ($150 million) into a recapitalization of its joint venture, LG Display Optoelectronics Technology (China) Co., Ltd., alongside the Guangzhou Development Zone Holding Group. This investment aims to transform the Guangzhou facility into a dedicated “Large OLED” hub. The facility will focus on manufacturing ultra-large modules, including 77-inch, 83-inch, 97-inch, and 111-inch formats, targeting high-end consumer and professional markets.
