Archaeologists at the Libisosa Archaeological Park in Lezuza, Albacete, have uncovered a rare limestone anthropomorphic Iberian sculpture dating to the 5th or 4th century BCE. The life-sized fragment features a detailed hairstyle of braids and curls, which researchers suggest may represent a young male.

The sculpture was originally part of a funerary monument before being repurposed by Romans as a building stone for the northern wall of a granary within the Roman forum. This reuse supports theories regarding the proximity of an Iberian cemetery to the Roman structures. 

In addition to the sculpture, excavations have revealed six steps of a monumental staircase leading to the forum. Archaeological work in the region is expected to continue through December 2026.
