Individual instances of successful life-saving interventions using the Heimlich maneuver have been reported in Turkey.

In Istanbul’s Esenyurt district, a shopkeeper used first aid techniques learned during military service to save a 13-year-old child who was choking on corn. In Ordu’s Fatsa district, a technician trained in occupational health and safety performed the maneuver to assist a driver who had choked on a tablet after initial attempts by bystanders failed.

In both cases, the individuals involved were able to restore breathing to the victims, who were reported to be in good health following the incidents.
