Rapper Lil Wayne announced his engagement to Madi Cannon in a video message in late September. This announcement followed a period in July when Wayne had stated the pair had split to avoid the burdens of public scrutiny.

In October, Wayne shared details regarding his wedding preferences during an appearance on ‘The Joint Venture Show’. He identified R&B legend Anita Baker as his top choice to perform at the ceremony, though he noted he would not want to pressure her. He also mentioned Keith Sweat and Babyface as alternative performers, adding that he would leave specific song selections to his fiancée.
