Filmmaker Lilly Wachowski has reported difficulties securing Hollywood financing for her upcoming dystopian political thriller, ‘The Hunted’. Wachowski stated that while the script has garnered interest, financiers are reluctant to fund the project due to its “wall-to-wall trans cast.”

The film, co-written with Mickey Ray Mahoney, has an estimated budget of $10 million and follows two transgender women investigating a crime in a version of America where transgender people are persecuted. The project is being developed through Wachowski’s Anarchists United and Natasha Lyonne’s Ariadne banner.

In an effort to build visibility and explore alternative ways to bring the story to the public, the team organized a live table read at the Dynasty Typewriter in Los Angeles, featuring various artists and actors.
