Japanese religious institutions have been issuing various limited-edition Goshuin (sacred stamps) for specific commemorative purposes.

In early August, Suwa Shrine in Nagasaki City announced a series of 600 ‘peace goshuin’ to mark the anniversary of the atomic bombing. These stamps utilize paper made from donated origami cranes and feature designs of a dove and a peace-prayer statue. Simultaneously, Ninnaji Temple in Kyoto released special designs, including a black cat motif referencing a 9th-century imperial pet.

By late August, Ichihatasan Yakushiji temple announced its own seasonal series for September 2026. This collection includes moon-themed stamps to commemorate the ‘Jugoya’ and ‘Jusanya’ nights, as well as monthly gold-leaf designs featuring Kannon Bosatsu and Bassara Daijin.
