The series was revealed via a trailer debut at the San Diego Comic-Con in Málaga, Spain. The narrative follows a 12-year-old version of Messi who is transported to a fantasy world called Iko. To return home, he must compete in high-stakes, football-inspired tournaments involving ‘spheres’ to defeat legendary giants and restore fractured kingdoms. The series relies on skill, teamwork, and determination rather than the special powers used by other inhabitants of Iko. Production involves Atlantis Animation, Sony Pictures Television, and Sony Music Vision. The voice cast includes Milo Burgess-Webb as Leo/Messi and Giulietta Vainer Tisminetzky as his mother, with a soundtrack featuring music by Luck Ra. The series is scheduled for a global release on Disney+ and on the Disney Channel in the United States in the summer of 2027. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-04: Disney+ reveals trailer for Messi and the Giants animated series Disney+ has unveiled the first trailer for ‘Messi and the Giants’, an animated fantasy series inspired by Lionel Messi’s childhood, set to premiere globally in the summer of 2027. 10 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/disney-releases-first-trailer-for-lionel-messi-animated-series ### 2026-10-02: Messi and the Giants animated series revealed for Disney+ Lionel Messi’s animated series ‘Messi and the Giants’ will premiere on Disney+ in summer 2027, following a teaser reveal at San Diego Comic-Con Málaga. 19 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/messi-and-the-giants-animated-series-reveals-first-teaser --- Cite as: Lionel Messi animated series announcement.
