Argentine footballer Lionel Messi has expressed regret regarding his lack of formal education and English language proficiency. During a podcast appearance, Messi noted that while football brought him immense success, the absence of English skills has occasionally made him feel “limited” when interacting with influential figures, sometimes forcing him to rely on translators or withdraw from conversations.

Messi shared that although he knew he would likely leave Argentina for a professional career during his final year of school, he did not prioritize studying the language. He indicated that while he uses English privately with his children, he feels uncomfortable using it in professional or social environments. Consequently, he is emphasizing the importance of formal education to his three sons to ensure they are prepared for future opportunities.
