Sources: 9. Developments: 3. Lions and Leo Clubs in Italy have implemented several charitable programs to support vulnerable populations and local communities. In early September, initiatives included the ‘Zaino sospeso’ (Suspended Backpack) program in Vasto to collect school supplies for families in economic difficulty, and a fundraiser in Quistello to support Casa del Sole di Curtatone, an organization for people with disabilities. By mid-September, similar efforts continued. In Alberobello, a “Passeggiata della solidarietà” (Solidarity Walk) was held to raise funds for a guide dog for a visually impaired woman. Additionally, the “Zaino Sospeso” campaign was launched in Bra to provide school supplies to students through Caritas Bra. In late September, District 108 YA expanded humanitarian efforts in Southern Italy. In Reggio Calabria, the Lions Club Reggio Calabria Host launched a campaign to collect, sanitize, repair, and redistribute used eyeglasses for free to address visual impairments. Simultaneously, the first ‘Zaino Sospeso Day’ was promoted across Campania, Basilicata, and Calabria. This project encourages donations of notebooks, backpacks, and stationery, with local institutions like the municipality of Sala Consilina collaborating to identify families in need through social services. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-19: Lions Club launches social solidarity campaigns in Southern Italy The Lions Club has launched humanitarian campaigns in Southern Italy, including an eyewear recycling program in Reggio Calabria and a school supply donation drive across Campania, Basilicata, and Calabria. 4 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/lions-club-launches-social-solidarity-campaigns-in-southern-italy ### 2026-09-14: Lions and Leo Clubs lead charitable initiatives in Italy Lions and Leo Clubs in Italy are hosting charitable events, including a solidarity walk in Alberobello to fund a guide dog and a school supply drive in Bra to support students in need. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/lions-and-leo-clubs-lead-charitable-initiatives-in-italy ### 2026-09-03: Lions Clubs launch charitable initiatives in Italy Lions Club chapters in Italy are hosting charitable drives, including school supply collections in Vasto and fundraising for disability support services in Quistello. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/lions-clubs-launch-charitable-initiatives-in-italy --- Cite as: Lions and Leo Club charitable initiatives in Italy.
