Regarding financial compensation, insurer Fidelidade has covered approximately 2.3 million euros for costs such as funeral services and medical treatments. Labor unions continue to criticize the decision to outsource maintenance, arguing that internal oversight could have prevented the disaster. In response to the tragedy, Carris is planning an international tender to modernize the funicular system, with the objective of resuming service by 2029.
