Lisbon has been named the world’s “happiest” holiday destination according to the Holiday Happiness Index. The study, conducted by BookRetreats in collaboration with Time Out and clinical psychologist Dr. Natalie Dattilo-Ryan, evaluated 47 global destinations based on five scientific parameters: sunshine, sleep quality, healthy nutrition, time spent in nature, and walkability.

The city secured the top position by offering a balanced combination of these well-being factors. Key contributors to the ranking include approximately 2,828 annual hours of sunshine, significant green space, and a high density of “healthy” restaurants. Despite its hilly terrain, the city was noted for its walkability and easy access to coastal areas.
