Nagaland has achieved a literacy rate of 95.7%, ranking as the third most literate state in India behind Kerala and Mizoram. This represents a significant increase from the 21.95% literacy rate recorded when the state attained statehood in 1963.

To mark the occasion and celebrate Teachers’ Day, the Directorate of School Education, Nagaland, honored 32,714 teachers from government and private institutions, declaring September 7 a holiday for all schools in the state. School Education Advisor Dr Kekhrielhoulie Yhome stated that the state is transforming its educational ecosystem through three pillars: infrastructure, teacher training, and human resource management.
