Japan is hosting a variety of literary events, including picture book exhibitions and community-focused library programs.

Exhibitions in Kobe and Yokohama highlight popular children’s literature and illustrators. The Kobe Fashion Museum is celebrating the 90th anniversary of Keisisha with displays of long-selling titles and original drawings, while a touring exhibition for Keiko Shibata’s ‘Bread Thief’ series is scheduled to conclude at the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse.

In October, community engagement through books is emphasized via events at the Seibu Library, featuring author lectures, character photo sessions, and workshops. Additionally, a gathering at Pacifico Yokohama will focus on the publication of new books regarding community-led libraries and the creation of social spaces through reading.
