From September 16 to October 15, specific river sections require anglers to hold an angler card, and night fishing is prohibited. In the Neris River, between the Žirmūnai and Valakupių bridges, the use of artificial or live bait is banned from September 16 through December 31, and all salmon and grayling caught during this period must be released. To ensure compliance with these regulations, environmental officers conducted raids across the Vilnius, Kaunas, Panevėžys, and Šiauliai nature conservation divisions. During these inspections of 111 recreational fishers, authorities identified 12 violations, primarily involving breaches of amateur fishing rules and fishing without required permits. Officers also seized an abandoned fishing net and confiscated equipment intended for catching game animals. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-29: Lithuanian environmental officers conduct fishing regulation raids Environmental officers conducted raids on 111 recreational fishers in Lithuania, identifying 12 violations including illegal fishing, boating infractions, and the discovery of illegal animal traps. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/lithuanian-environmental-officers-conduct-fishing-regulation-raids ### 2026-09-15: Lithuania implements salmon and grayling fishing restrictions Lithuania is implementing seasonal fishing restrictions for salmon and grayling from September 16, including mandatory catch-and-release rules and bait limitations in specific river sections. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/lithuania-implements-salmon-and-grayling-fishing-restrictions --- Cite as: Lithuanian salmon and grayling fishing regulations.
