While species such as chanterelles and boletes have been appearing since late spring, the current porcini yield has been lower than usual. If autumn remains warm and damp, a more abundant harvest could be expected in September, potentially extending into October or November.

Experts have issued safety advisories, noting that while approximately 400 of the 1,000 mushroom species in the Baltic states are edible, most foragers typically only collect 20 to 30 well-known varieties. Foragers are advised to only collect species they can identify with certainty and to avoid damaging the forest floor.
