The incident occurred at approximately 10:51 pm while the victim, 32-year-old Thomas Jewitt, was returning from the Notting Hill Carnival. Mr. Jewitt passed away in the hospital on September 1, surrounded by his family. His family described him as a “fun-loving, caring and kind” individual who worked in affordable housing and was planning to marry his fiancée next year. Jeremiah Maximo, 38, was initially charged with grievous bodily harm in connection with the assault. Following the victim's death, British Transport Police indicated they would seek to amend the charges against Maximo on the indictment at a later court date.
