The 30th anniversary of the NLB Ljubljana Marathon concluded with record-breaking performances across several categories. Following the initial high registration of 33,281 runners, the marathon event saw significant achievements in the 42 km race.

Kenyan runner Enock Onchari won the men’s marathon with a time of 2:04:55, setting a new course record that surpassed the previous mark set in 2018. He was followed by Hillary Kipkoech and Eritrean Kibrom Ruesom Oqbe. In the women’s category, Ethiopia’s Haftamnesh Tesfay Haylu secured victory and also broke the course record with a time of 2:19:17, improving the previous record by a full minute.

For the Slovenian national championship, Anže Roblek placed first with a time of 2:22:53, while Saša Pisk was named the top Slovenian woman. The event also marked the professional retirement of veteran Slovenian marathoner Primož Kobe, who finished seventh in the national championship.

In the 21 km half-marathon, Antoine Villechenaud of France won with a time of 1:03:43, while Slovenia’s Dora Suljanović took first place in the women’s division with a time of 1:17:17. These results follow earlier record-breaking performances in the 10 km race, where Vid Botolin set a new Slovenian road running record.

The two-day event also featured school championships for primary and secondary students and necessitated significant traffic disruptions and road closures throughout Ljubljana to accommodate the participants.
