Municipal governments in Katowice and Częstochowa have implemented measures to honor prominent local figures through various civic recognitions.

In Katowice, the City Council awarded the ‘Zasłużony dla Miasta Katowice’ title to several individuals and institutions during the city’s 161st anniversary celebrations. The council also voted to name the municipal stadium after Jan Furtok, a former GKS Katowice football player who was a key figure in the club’s 1986 Polish Cup victory.

In Częstochowa, the City Council approved the naming of streets, squares, and roundabouts to commemorate social, cultural, and public figures. These honors include naming a roundabout and square after Krzysztof Pośpiech, a street in the Kiedrzyn district after former senator Grzegorz Lipowski, and a road in the Zawodzia-Dąbia area after former Philharmonic director Ireneusz Kozera.
