The win serves as a rebound for the Tigers following a 35-34 overtime loss to Kentucky and marks their first home shutout against an SEC opponent since 2006. Quarterback Sam Leavitt led the LSU offense, completing 31 of 38 passes for 289 yards and four touchdowns. Receiving touchdowns were scored by Jackson Harris (two), Eugene Wilson III, and Malik Elzy. Mississippi State, falling to 4-2, struggled significantly due to the absence of star freshman quarterback Kamario Taylor, who was ruled out with a turf toe injury, and running back Fluff Bothwell. Freshman Parker Puckett started at quarterback for the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs also faced defensive shortages, missing linebackers Zakari Tillman and Jalen Smith, as well as defensive linemen Trevion Williams and Diesle Maye. Following the loss, Mississippi State head coach Jeff Lebby emphasized the necessity of player development and execution from depth players, noting that backups must improve their ability to recognize defensive schemes and execute under pressure to help salvage the season. LSU now prepares for a critical SEC road matchup against the Auburn Tigers at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Auburn (4-2) enters the contest with momentum following an upset victory over Georgia. LSU enters as a 5.5-point favorite according to FanDuel, seeking their first road win of the season. Auburn quarterback Byrum Brown, who recorded 115 rushing yards and a touchdown in the Georgia game, is expected to pose a major challenge to the LSU defense due to his mobility and dual-threat capabilities. ## Claims - Mississippi State quarterback Kamario Taylor is listed as doubtful for the upcoming game against LSU.
