Maceió Mayor Rodrigo Cunha has transitioned from supporting local athletic development at existing facilities to announcing large-scale infrastructure investments.

Initially, the Mayor visited the Vila Olímpica Gigantão to support local rhythmic gymnastics and table tennis competitions, emphasizing the city’s goal to become a hub for major competitions and talent discovery.

Following these efforts, the city announced the development of the Parque e Arena dos Corais in Riacho Doce. This R$ 600 million multi-use complex, funded through a Public-Private Partnership, is designed to host professional football matches for up to 30,000 people and cultural events for up to 40,000. The project includes a FIFA-standard field, a public park, and a hotel, with projections suggesting the complex could attract 1.5 million annual visitors and create thousands of jobs.
