Joe ‘Ferrari’ Sibanyoni, a prominent taxi industry operator, has provided testimony before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry in Pretoria regarding organized crime, extortion, and money laundering. In his initial testimony, Sibanyoni detailed surviving two assassination attempts and alleged that underworld figures acted as hitmen for the late taxi boss Jothan ‘King Mswazi’ Msibi. He also addressed allegations regarding drug-dealing operations and links to senior police figures. In subsequent proceedings, Sibanyoni addressed the authenticity of WhatsApp messages extracted from the phone of suspended police Sergeant Fannie Nkosi. While Sibanyoni expressed reservations about the digital evidence, the commission noted that Nkosi had confirmed the messages were authentic. Sibanyoni also denied reports that he had retired from the industry, asserting his continued role as president of the South African Local and Long Distance Taxi and Bus Organisation (SALLDTBO), and defended the Shosholoza Club as a legitimate cultural savings arrangement. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-21: Johannes Sibanyoni addresses Madlanga Commission regarding industry status and WhatsApp evidence Taxi industry leader Johannes Sibanyoni appeared before the Madlanga Commission, denying retirement reports and contesting the use of WhatsApp messages involving suspended Sergeant Fannie Nkosi. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/johannes-sibanyoni-addresses-madlanga-commission-regarding-industry-status-and-whatsapp-evidence ### 2026-08-28: Joe Sibanyoni testifies at Madlanga Commission regarding assassination attempts Taxi operator Joe Sibanyoni testified at the Madlanga Commission, detailing two assassination attempts and alleging that drug operations were moved to a farm owned by the late Jothan Msibi. 4 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/joe-sibanyoni-testifies-at-madlanga-commission-regarding-assassination-attempts --- Cite as: Madlanga Commission taxi industry inquiry.
